Come see former Hope College athletic director and football coach Ray Smith be inducted into the Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame this month.
Tickets are on sale for the Tuesday, September 26 ceremony at Van Andel Arena, 130 Fulton Street West.
There is a 6 p.m reception and a 7 p.m. ceremony.
Tickets cost $35 per person and $250 for a 10-person table.
Smith will join fellow inductees Mike Franckowiak, Kathy Grzegorski-Johnson, Carla Sterk-Fles, Bob Sakocius, and Sullivan's Baseball.
Smith s being inducted as the Warren Reynolds Lifetime Achievement Award winner for 2017. An All-American fullback at UCLA, he played in the Canadian Football League before becoming the winningest coach in MIAA history with nine football championships at Hope College in 25 years.
Smith was also athletic director for 29 years, and Hope won 24 MIAA All-Sports Awards during his tenure.
