Tony Semple, a former NFL player, joined the Hope College football coaching staff prior to the 2016 season as the offensive line coach.
Semple played nine seasons in the NFL with the Detroit Lions (1995-2002) after being drafted in the fifth round out of the University of Memphis. An offensive guard, Semple played in 112 NFL games and made 47 starts.
Semple is director and co-founder of Foundation for Hope Outdoor Adventures, a nationwide non-profit that exists to provide inspiring and meaningful outdoor hunting experiences for youth who suffer life-threatening or life-challenging medical conditions.
Semple is a Fellowship of Christian Athletes advocate. He has worked at the FCA Summer Camp at Albion College since 2006.
Semple was an assistant offensive line coach for Grand Rapids Christian from 2012-13. The Eagles won a Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 3 state championship in 2012.
Semple earned a bachelor’s degree in sports administration from Memphis in 1994.
Semple and his wife, Dawn, have two sons, Jake and Cole.
