Ben Lewis and the Hope College men's golf team charged up the leaderboard on Saturday, rising four spots to finish third at the 17-team Olivet College Lou Collins Invitational.
Lewis, a junior from Grand Haven (Grand Haven HS), carded a 4-under-par 68 at Bedford Valley Country Club during the final round of the 36-hole, two-day event.
Lewis helped Hope post a final round team score of 283 and an overall score of 591.
Owens (Ohio) Community College won, while Bethel (Ind.) took second. Hope came in one shot behind Bethel.
Junior Evan Telzerow of Grand Rapids (Forest Hills Northern HS) shot a final round 70 for Hope. The Flying Dutchmen also received on Saturday a 74 from sophomore Paul Bardenhagen of Cedar (Leland HS) and a 76 from junior Ben Lanting of Littleton, Colo. (Front Range Christian).
"Our putting was a little better today for most of us. Ballstriking was as well," Telzerow said. "I think it's important to be in the fairway. Today was our day in that area."
