Josh Gibson Shoots 64, Leads Men's Golf To Hopkins Golf Collegiate Win In Illinois

Josh Gibson fired an 8-under par 64 to lead the Hope College men's golf team past fourth-ranked Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday and claim the title at the Hopkins Golf Collegiate in Decatur, lllinois.

The 13th-ranked Flying Dutchmen recorded a final-round score of 287 for a 36-hole total of 584 at the event hosted by Millikin University. Hope finished seven strokes ahead of Illinois Wesleyan in the 16-team event.

Gibson, pictured, earned medalist honors at 12-under. The junior from Grandville, Michigan (Grandville HS) had a first-round score of 68 on Friday.

Senior Kade Hoeksema of Byron Center, Michigan (South Christian) fired a 70 on Saturday and tied for fifth place at 2-over.

Junior Ben Kramer of Spring Lake, Michigan (Spring Lake) and sophomore Daniel Settecerri of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan (Bloomfield Hills) tied for 21st at 9-over. On Saturday, Settecerri shot a 76, while Kramer had a 77.

Junior Andrew Goble of Brighton, Michigan (Michigan) contributed on Saturday with a 76.
