Men's Golf Tees Off At NCAA Championships In North Carolina

The Hope College men's golf team tees off at the NCAA Division III Championship on Tuesday at noon in Greensboro, North Carolina.

It is the first round of the 72-hole, four-day tournament at Grandover Resort.

Sophomore Daniel Settecerri of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan (Bloomfield Hills) will be first in the pairing for the 11th-ranked Flying Dutchmen.

He will be followed by junior Andrew Goble of Brighton, Michigan (Brighton) at 12:10 p.m., junior Ben Kramer of Spring Lake, Michigan (Spring Lake) at 12:20 p.m., senior Kade Hoeksema of Byron Center, Michigan (South Christian) at 12:30 p.m., and junior Josh Gibson of Grandville, Michigan (Grandville) at 12:40 p.m.

Gibson took home individual medalist honors after finishing one under par for the four-day event in Howie-in-the-Hills, Florida and winning a one-hole playoff against Garrett Brickley, of Wittenberg (Ohio) University.  

Hope finished a program-best sixth in the team standings at the 2017 NCAA Championships.

There will be 216 golfers in the field, including 33 conference championship like the Flying Dutchmen, who won the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association qualifier last month.

There is a cut after 36 holes.
