The Hope College men's lacrosse team posted the most goals in a match since becoming a varsity sport when the Flying Dutchmen defeated Dubuque (Iowa) 27-2 on Saturday at Van Andel Stadium.
Hope surpassed the previous mark of 22 set on the road against Wilmington (Oho) on March 18, 2013. The nonleague feat helped the Flying Dutchmen extend their win streak to three matches.
Against Dubuque, the Flying Dutchmen (3-3 overall) grabbed a 16-1 halftime lead by outscoring its foe 10-0 during the second period.
Junior attack Caleb Digison of Midland (Midland HS) led the Flying Dutchmen by netting seven goals and matching his season high. He has scored 20 goals in three matches since joining the lineup.
Senior Jacob Kamstra of Zeeland (Zeeland East HS) scored six times to go along with six assists.
Senior attack Niko Pagkanlungan of Naples, Fla. (Barron Collier HS) chipped in four goals and four assists for Hope. Freshman attack Gunnar Elder of East Grand Rapids (East Grand Rapids HS) added four goals.
Freshman goalie Connor Miedema of Holland (Holland Christian HS) earned the win by making three saves while playing the first half.
