No. 21 Hope Men's Soccer Edged In OT By Eighth-Ranked Foe

The Hope College men's soccer team lost in overtime 2-1 to visiting Ohio Wesleyan Saturday in a matchup of nationally ranked teams at the Cal Bergsma Memorial Invitational.

No. 21 Hope fell to 1-1 overall after No. 8 Ohio Wesleyan's Colton Bloecher scored off a corner back 4 minutes, 25 seconds into the first sudden-death overtime period.

All four teams in the Bergsma tournament finished with 1-1 records. North Central beat Calvin 1-0 on Saturday.

The two teams traded goals in an 18-second span late in regulation.

Sophomore Josh Hagene of Caledonia, Michigan (East Kentwood HS), tied the score at 1-1 when he blasted in a rebound with 5 minutes, 21 seconds remaining in the second half. It was Hagene's third goal of the season.

Ohio Wesleyan briefly held a 1-0 lead on a Lonnie Barnes goal with 5:39 remaining.
