Mike Wurster took third place in the 200-yard backstroke for the Hope College men's swimming & diving team at the Wheaton, Illinois Invitational on Friday.
The junior from Indianapolis, Indiana (Brebeuf Jesuit) clocked a time of 1 minute, 53.85 seconds.
Senior Christian Otteman of Zeeland, Michigan (East) posted a fifth-place 200 backstroke of 1:57.19.
Junior Charlie Emmert of Grand Blanc, Michigan (Flint Powers Catholic), senior Ryan Johnson of Milford, Michigan (International), freshman Keon Rick of Spring Lake, Michigan (Spring Lake) and senior Danny Sullivan of Columbus, Ohio (Upper Arlington) came in fifth in the 200-yard freestyle relay at 1:26.80.
The 400 medley relay of Otteman, senior Trevor Wagoner of Hixson, Tennessee (McCalle), Emmert and Johnson was sixth in 3:31.22.
Johnson finished seventh in the 100 freestyle at 47.36
Otteman placed eighth in the 200 individual medley at 1:59.65.
The 800 freestyle relay of freshman Daniel Clyde of Ann Arbor, Michigan (Huron), Johnson, Otteman and Emmert took eighth at 7:09.80.
The Flying Dutchmen are fifth in the team standings. Washington-St. Louis is first with 507 points and is followed by Wisconsin-Stevens Point (409.5), Wheaton (301), Wisconsin-Whitewater (288.5) and Hope (200).
