Men's Swimming & Diving Takes Second At Michigan-Illinois Quad

The Hope College men's swimming & diving team finished runner-up at the Michigan-Illinois Quad with 436 points on Saturday in Wheaton, Illinois.

Host Wheaton took first with 546 points and was followed by Hope, Lake Forest, Illinois (394) and Kalamazoo (362).

Senior Trevor Wagoner of Hixson, Tennessee (McCalle HS) clocked the second-place time in the 200 breaststroke of 2 minutes, 20.57 seconds.

Senior Ryan Johnson of Milford, Michigan (International) placed runner-up in the 50 freestyle at 21.68 and third in the 100 freestyle at 47.98.

Junior Charlie Emmert of Grand Blanc, Michigan (Flint Powers Catholic) came in second in the 200 butterfly at 1:59.42.

Emmert, Johnson, freshman Daniel Clyde of Ann Arbor, Michigan (Huron) and junior Mike Wurster of Indianapolis, Indiana (Brebeuf Jesuit) was runner-up in the 400 freestyle relay at 3:14.83.

Senior Christian Otteman of Zeeland, Michigan (East) posted a third-place time in the 200 individual medley at 2:02.55. Clyde was fourth at 2:03.51.

Otteman finished third in the 200 backstroke at 2:00.36. Wurster was fourth at 2:01.38.

Hope returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 21 when the Flying Dutchmen host Albion for a MIAA dual meet at Holland Community Aquatic Center.
