Julian Morrison Places First In 10,000 Meters At Emory Invitational

Julian Morrison topped a field of 32 runners in the 10,000 meters during the opening day of the Emory Invitational on Friday in Atlanta.

The senior from Aurora, Illinois (Waubonsie Valley HS) clocked a winning time of 31 minutes, 44.44 seconds.

Morrison helped Hope to a combined men's and women's score of 63 points that was good for second place. Rowan is first with 87. The two-day meet resumes on Saturday.

The Flying Dutchmen took second in the 4x800 relay. Senior Cameron Jones of Holland, Michigan (Black River), senior Nicholas Salomon of Troy, Michigan (Detroit Jesuit), junior Peter Timperman of Lafayette, Indiana (Faith Christian), and senior Brandon Wolliston of Remus, Michigan (Chippewa Hills) posted a time of 7:58.32.

Junior Ben Pederson of Mount Prospect, Illinois (Prospect) finished third in the 3,000 steeplechase with a run of 9:39.98.

Freshman Joshua Izenbart of Glenwood, Illinois (Homewood-Flossmoor) was fifth in the high jump by clearing 1.99 meters (6 feet, 6 inches).

The Flying Dutchmen placed fifth in the distance medley relay. Freshman Andrew Vandebunte of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Byron Center), sophomore Eddie Ip of Grand Rapids, Michigan (South Christian), freshman Ty Hergenreder of Davison, Michigan (Goodrich), and sophomore Ryan Holman of Holmen, Wisconsin (Holmen) came in fifth at 11:07.63.
