Softball Throws Two Shutouts, Sweeps Albion

The Hope College softball team blanked host Albion twice Saturday afternoon in a doubleheader sweep and remained unbeaten in MIAA play.

Recent MIAA Pitcher of the Week Sydney Jones of South Lyon, Michigan (South Lyon East) struck out 10 and allowed only one hit in a 14-0 win in Game 1, while Katie Singer of Howell, Michigan (Hartland) tossed a two-hitter in Game 2 as Hope posted an 8-0 victory.

Centerfielder Sammi Adams of Griffith, Indiana (Griffith) combined for four hits and six runs scored, and Hayley Reitsma of Grand Rapids, Michigan (GR Christian) had four hits, eight RBIs and scored four runs.

Shay Pinhey of Ann Arbor, Michigan (Pioneer) delivered three hits and scored three times in Game 1, while Singer helped her cause in Game 2 with two hits and 3 RBIs.

Hope's bats banged out a combined 24 hits.

The Flying Dutch (14-6, 4-0) continue play on Wednesday with a doubleheader at Kalamazoo.
