The Hope College women's basketball team hit the century mark for the second time this season in a 101-49 win at Saint Mary's on Saturday.
The seventh-ranked Flying Dutch did their part to set up a first-place showdown in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association on Wednesday, Jan. 18 at Trine. Both teams are 7-0 in MIAA play.
Hope (15-1 overall) jumped out to an 11-2 lead at Saint Mary's and never trailed. The Flying Dutch pulled ahead 51-18 by halftime.
All 15 Hope players scored, including leading scorer Francesca Buchanan. The sophomore center from Grant, Michigan (Sparta HS) recorded her second double-double of the season with a game-high 16 points and a season-high 11 rebounds.
Three Flying Dutch players chipped in nine points apiece: senior forward Mandy Traversa of Winfield, Illinois (Wheaton North) and, off the bench, junior forward Jacquelyn Schwark of Fraser, Michigan (Lutheran North) and sophomore guard Victoria Swift of LaGrange, Illinois (Lyons Township).
Hope shot 45.3 percent from the floor (34-75) while limiting Saint Mary's to 27.1 percent (19-70). Saint Mary's fell to 1-14 overall and 0-7 in MIAA play.
The Flying Dutch's first 100-point game of the season came in a 107-65 win against visiting Rochester, Michigan on November 22.
