Hope Women's Golf Runner-Up At Furniture City Classic

The Hope College women's golf team started its season with a second-place finish at the Furniture City Classic on Saturday in Grand Rapids.

The Flying Dutch shot a team score of 333 at the five-team event at the Mines Golf Course.

Sophomore Britni Gielow of Norton Shores, Michigan (Mona Shores) led Hope with a 10-over-par 80. She finished fourth, two shots off the lead.

Senior Montana Leep of Hastings, Michigan (Grand Rapids South Christian HS) finished one streak behind Gielow in fifth place.

Freshman Morgan Klintworth of Jackson, Michigan (Hanover-Horton HS) and sophomore Elena Moore of South Lyon, Michigan (South Lyon East HS) tied for 11th with 86s.

Junior Morgan Leep of Hastings, Michigan (Grand Rapids South Christian HS) rounded out Hope's scoring with a 14th-place 87.

Davenport (326) won. Calvin (343) took third, while Aquinas (344) placed fourth and Cornerstone (393) was fifth.
