Hope College's Britni Gielow tied for seventh place out of 111 golfers to top the Flying Dutch at the 36-hole, two-day Illinois Wesleyan Kathy Niepagen Spring Fling this weekend.
The senior from Norton Shores, Michigan (Mona Shores) finished 10-over par with rounds of 73 and 81 at Ironwood Golf Club in Normal, Illinois. Gielow is pictured at right.
Hope finished seventh out of 22 teams with a score of 643.
Senior Dominique Molinaro of Burtchville, Michigan (Port Huron Northern) tied for 26th after rounds of 76 and 85.
Junior Megan Klintworth of Jackson, Michigan (Hanover-Horton) tied for 2nd after shooting 77 and 87.
Junior Nicole Meyer of Brighton, Michigan (Brighton) tied for 47th after rounds of 79 and 86.
Senior Megan Wierenga of Byron Center, Michigan (South Christian) tied for 47th after shooting 87 and 86.
The Flying Dutch return to competition on Saturday, April 22 at Knollwood Country Club in Granger, Indiana with the first round of the MIAA's 54-hole NCAA Division III Championship qualifier.
Hope will host the final two rounds of the NCAA qualifier on Friday-Saturday, April 28-29 at The Ravines Golf Club in Saugatuck.
