Women's Lacrosse Powers Past Adrian, Stays Unbeaten In MIAA Play

Emily Deane and the Hope College women's lacrosse team made the most of a chilly afternoon at home and powered their way to a 13-7 win against Adrian College on Saturday.

Deane, pictured, scored a match-high four goals for the Flying Dutch, who improved to 6-3 overall and 3-0 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play

Hope matched its season-high win streak of three while remaining in a first-place tie with Calvin and Saint Mary's in the MIAA standings.

The Flying Dutch never trailed against Adrian (1-8, 0-3 MIAA) after freshman Jane Ragains of Western Springs, Illinois (Lyons Township) scored 32 seconds into the match.

Adrian evened the score at 1-1, but the Flying Dutch built a 7-3 lead by halftime.

Hope had five different goalscorers in the first half, including freshman Madison Micho of Grand Rapids, Michigan (East Grand Rapids) with two of her three goals for the match.

Deane, a senior from Rochester Hills, Michigan (Rochester Adams), netted all of her goals after halftime.

Goalie Laurel Frederickson of Alto, Michigan (Lowell) made six saves for Hope.
