Grace Bubin stretched out her right foot and kicked off a decisive scoring barrage for the Hope College women's soccer team.
The junior from Rockford, Michigan (Rockford HS) converted a cross early in the second half that propelled the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association-leading Flying Dutch to a 4-0 win against second-place Olivet College on Tuesday at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.
Behind Bubin's team-leading eighth goal of the season and her two assists, Hope improved to 11-1-1 overall and 9-1-1 in MIAA play. The Flying Dutch are four points ahead of Kalamazoo.
Hope struck for three goals in 8 ½ minutes to break open the match against Olivet (9-5, 7-4 MIAA).
Bubin, pictured, converted a cross from senior Allie Wittenbach of Ada, Michigan (Forest Hills Central) 5:45 into the second half. Wittenbach leads the Flying Dutch with five assists.
Six minutes later, Bubin set up junior Rylie Dalton of Rockford, Michigan (Rockford) for her sixth goal of the season.
The Flying Dutch surged ahead 3-0 2 ½ minutes later when freshman Audrey White of Hudsonville, Michigan (Hudsonville) made Olivet pay for a failed clear with her fifth goal of the season.
Hope closed the scoring with 55 seconds remaining after sophomore Abbey Przekop buried a rebound of Bubin's initial shot on goal. Bubin now has four assists on the season.
The shutout was the 10th of the season for the Flying Dutch and the eighth for freshman goalie Jordanne Ellingboe of Grand Haven, Michigan (Grand Haven).
