Women's Track & Field's Rachel Satkiewicz Tops 400-Meter Field At Wheaton Invite

Runner Rachel Satkiewicz took first in one event, and the Hope College women's outdoor track & field team finished second in three events, as the Flying Dutch placed fifth at the nine-team Wheaton, Illinois Invitational on Saturday.

Satkiewicz, pictured, won the 400 meters by clocking a time of 57.51 seconds. The junior from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan (Seaholm HS) helped Hope to a score of 84 points.

Junior Rachael Webb of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Grandville) finished runner-up in the 800 meters at 2:20.26 and third in the 1,500 at 4:45.64.

Senior Erin Herrmann of Wheaton, Illinois (Wheaton-Warrenville South) came in second in the 5,000 meters at 17:37.95.

Freshman Hannah Kenny of Grand Haven, Michigan (Grand Haven) led a group of four Hope steeplechasers to score with a runner-up effort of 12:41.83.

Kenny was followed by freshman Natalie Meyer of Plainwell, Illinois (Plainfield South) in fourth at 12:46.81, freshman Sophia Vander Kooy of Indianapolis, Indiana (Brebeuf Jesuit) in fifth at 13:06.99, and freshman Natalie Keenan of Ionia, Michigan (Corunna) in sixth at 13:19.66.

Two Flying Dutch pole vaulters scored: junior Sarah Murphy of Ada, Michigan (Forest Hills Northern) in fifth at 3.07 meters (10 feet) and junior Hannah Howard of Jacksonville, Illinois (Routt Catholic) in sixth at 2.77 meters (9-0).

Freshman Alicia Bostwick of Zionsville, Indiana (Zionsville) clocked a sixth-place, 10,000-meter run of 43:21.47.

In the 400 hurdles, senior Sierra Schultz of Kellogg, Iowa (Grinnell) came in sixth at 1:08.10, while junior Alison Rich of Haslett, Michigan (Haslett) was seventh at 1:08.64.

Freshman Nicole Kruithof of Byron Center, Michigan (South Christian) finished sixth in the 400 at 1:01.95.

Junior Alexis Guttilla of St. Charles, Illinois (Westminster Christian) took sixth in the 1,500 at 4:55.72.

Freshman Addyson Gerig of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa) placed sixth in the triple jump at 10.29 meters (33-9).

In the hammer throw, junior Rachel Alfond of Snohomish, Washington (Archbishop Murphy) was eighth at 38.50 meters (126-4).

Hope returns to action on Thursday, April 13 at Adrian's Don Kleinow Invitational.
