No. 2-ranked Hope Handles Early Wakeup, Wins at Adrian In Sweep
A quick turnaround and early morning road trip did not faze the second-ranked Hope volleyball team one bit.
The Flying Dutch posted their 13th sweep of the season on Saturday, winning at Adrian 25-10, 25-14, 25-17 less than 24 hours after beating Saint Mary's in three sets at home.
Hope improved its overall record to 14-1 overall and its Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association mark to 5-1.
Junior outside hitter Jenna Grasmeyer of Hudsonville (Unity Christian HS) recorded a match-high 20 kills for the Flying Dutch with a .545 kill percentage. She was one short of the school record she's reached twice and shares with Jacie Fiedler.
It is the second time this season Grasmeyer has reached the 20-kill plateau. She had 21 against the University of Chicago on Sept. 7.
Junior outside hitter Anna Lynch of Lake Odessa (Lakewood HS) added nine kills for Hope.
Sophomore setter Lauren Hazekamp of Fruitport (Fruitport HS) totaled 44 assists for the Flying Dutch. She came within two assists of the school record set by Greer Bratschie in 2010 against Wheaton (Ill.).
Hope returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 25 when it hosts Kalamazoo College at the DeVos Fieldhouse Volleyball Court.
