The Hope volleyball team quickly put its biggest win of the season behind it, claiming a three-game sweep at Saint Mary's on Saturday.
The 25-19, 25-14, 25-18 win came less than 24 hours after the second-ranked Flying Dutch beat top-ranked Calvin in five sets.
Hope (25-1 overall) gave coach Becky Schmidt her 299th career win while also moving into a first-place tie in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) standings with Calvin. Both teams are 12-1 in league play.
Junior outside hitter Jenna Grasmeyer of Jenison (Hudsonville Unity Christian HS) led the Flying Dutch with 12 kills.
Senior middle hitters Courtney Earles of Kentwood (East Kentwood HS) and Mari Schoolmaster of Portage (Portage Central HS) chipped in nine kills apiece for Hope. Earles totaled 11 attempts for a .818 kill percentage.
Sophomore setter Lauren Hazekamp of Fruitport (Fruitport HS) collected 29 assists for the Flying Dutch.
Hope also extended its win streak to 13 matches. The Flying Dutch return to action Wednesday, Oct. 23 against Adrian at the DeVos Fieldhouse Main Court.
