The fourth-ranked Hope College volleyball team is off a 3-0 start after completing an unbeaten run at a two-day tournament in Springfield, Ohio.
The Flying Dutch swept No. 5 St. Thomas (Minnesota) 25-18, 25-20, 25-18 and unranked Johns Hopkins (Maryland) 25-17, 25-15, 25-15 on Saturday at Wittenberg's Courtyard By Marriott National Invitational.
Hope put two players on the all-tournament team: senior outside hitter Jenna Grasmeyer of Jenison, Michigan (Hudsonville Unity Christian HS) and junior setter Lauren Hazekamp of Fruitport, Michigan (Fruitport HS).
Against St. Thomas, senior outside hitter Anna Lynch of Lake Odessa, Michigan (Lakewood HS), topped the Flying Dutch with 14 kills and a .316 kill percentage.
Grasmeyer chipped in 13 kills with a .343 kill percentage, while Hazekamp contributed a match-high 34 assists and six kills.
Against Johns Hopkins, senior Amy VanderStoep of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa (HS) recorded a match-high 13 kills and a .812 kill percentage.
Lynch and Grasmeyer had nine and seven kills, respectively. Hazekamp collected 37 assists.
