Volleyball Tops Rose Hulman, Millikin To Close DePauw Tournament

The sixth-ranked Hope College volleyball team served up two wins to close the DePauw Invitational on Saturday in Greencastle, Indiana.

The Flying Dutch defeated Rose-Hulman, Indiana in four sets and No. 24-ranked Millikin, Illinois in three to finish the two-day tournament with a 3-1 record.

Senior middle hitter Courtney Van Houzen of Traverse City, Michigan (West HS) and sophomore outside hitter Katie Rietberg of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa) both were named all-tournament selections.

Hope improved to 10-1 on the season.

Van Houzen recorded a team-high 14 kills during the 22-25, 25-17, 25-22, 25-15 win against Rose-Hulman.

She was one of four Hope players to reach double-digits in kills: Rietberg with 13, senior Sarah Feldpausch of White Cloud, Michigan (White Cloud) with 11 and junior Haley Muller of Grand Rapids, Michigan (GR Christian) with 10.

Rietberg topped Hope with 13 kills during the 25-21, 25-18, 25-10 win against Millikin. Feldpausch chipped in nine kills.

Hope returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 20 with a 6:30 p.m. match at Trine.
