Volleyball Makes Morning Drive, Tops Adrian In Four Sets

The final two of setter Sophie Hackett's 44 assists sealed a 25-21, 25-23, 21-25, 25-23 victory for the nationally ranked Hope College volleyball team at Adrian on Saturday.

The senior from Indianapolis, Indiana (Brebeuf Jesuit Prep) helped break a tie in the fourth set by setting up consecutive kills for junior Katie Rietberg of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa) and senior Grace Ditzenberger of Centennial, Colorado (Chaparral).

The No. 21 Flying Dutch improved to 5-2 overall and 3-0 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play by winning for the second time in less than 24 hours and a matinee match after a 2 ½-hour bus trip.

Senior Haley Muller of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Grand Rapids) totaled a match-high 18 kills for Hope.

Rietberg and senior Paige Baker of Encinitas, California (La Costa Canyon), pictured, chipped in 10 kills apiece.

Senior Mallory Luke of Saline, Michigan (Saline) collected 24 digs against Adrian (1-6, 1-2 MIAA).
