Hope College fans can order their own Hope Soccer Purple T-Shirt for the September 15 Purple Community doubleheader at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.
The women's and men's doubleheader will benefit Van Andel Institute and its scientific research and educational efforts.
Purchase your Hope Soccer Purple T-Shirt with a $15 donation to Van Andel Institute by Tuesday, September 4 to support the cause. Fans are encouraged to wear purple for the games.
T-shirts can be picked up at the Hope College Bookstore in the DeWitt Center on Friday, September 14 between 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. or at the Bookstore Kiosk at Van Andel Soccer Stadium on Saturday, September 15 beginning at 11 a.m.
Both the Flying Dutch and Flying Dutchmen teams will wear purple jerseys on September 15 while playing in honor of loved ones and friends impacted by cancer and neurodegenerative diseases.
The women's Purple Community match vs. Capital (Ohio) kicks off at noon. The Flying Dutch, under the direction of veteran head coach Leigh Sears, are the reigning Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association champions.
The men's Purple Community match vs. Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (Indiana) starts at 2:30 p.m. The Flying Dutchmen will be led by first-year head coach and six-time NCAA Division III national champion Dave Brandt.
All proceeds from the Purple Community doubleheader will go to Van Andel Institute and help underwrite a summer internship for a Hope College student at Van Andel Institute in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Purple shirts will be available for fans to purchase next month.
This summer, Geordan Stukey, a Hope College senior majoring in biology, is interning at Van Andel Institute.
