Four Hope Teams Head to NCAA Competition This Weekend

Four Hope College teams are bound for NCAA Division III postseason competition this weekend.

The NCAA tournament fields for both the men's soccer and volleyball championships were announced Monday afternoon, and both Hope teams were chosen to participate with at-large bids for postseason tournament play. Additionally, men's and women's cross country will be competing in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Saturday, November 16.

In men's soccer, head coach Dave Brandt's Flying Dutchmen will take their 14-5-1 record into national postseason play for the first time since 2013. Hope will host first- and second-round games at Van Andel Soccer Stadium on Friday and Saturday, November 15 and 16. No. 6-ranked University of Chicago (11-1-5) will play Dominican University (Illinois – 16-2-3) in Friday's first game at 2:30 p.m.* Hope will then take on Ohio Wesleyan University (13-5-3) in the night's second game at 5 p.m.* Friday's winners will meet on Saturday, November 16 at 5 p.m.*

2019 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Bracket

In volleyball, head coach Becky Schmidt and her Flying Dutch will travel to Calvin University for their national tournament play on Thursday, November 14 to Saturday, November 16. Hope is 22-6 on the season and will be playing in its 11th national tournament in the past 12 years. On Thursday, the No. 10-ranked Flying Dutch will take on Texas-Dallas (24-4) at 12:30 p.m. at VanNoord Arena.

Other first-round volleyball matches are: No. 11-ranked Muskingum College (Ohio – 26-3) versus Wittenberg University (Ohio – 15-10) at 3 p.m.; No. 12-ranked Ohio Northern University (26-5) versus Aurora University (Illinois) at 5:30 p.m.; and, No. 3-ranked Calvin University versus DePauw University (Indiana – 18-12) at 8 p.m.

Volleyball match times are Friday, November 15 are 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Saturday's regional final will be all 7 p.m.

2019 NCAA Division III Volleyball Bracket

In cross country, head coach Mark Northuis' Flying Dutch and Flying Dutchmen will compete in the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional on Saturday, November 16, hosted by Calvin University at the Gainey Athletic Complex. The men's 8K begins at 11 a.m. while the women's 6K starts at 12:45 p.m. The Flying Dutch won the 2019 MIAA championship and are ranked 27th nationally and fourth in the Great Lakes region. The Flying Dutchmen tied for third in the league.
