The Hope College ice hockey team celebrated its 2017-18 American Collegiate Hockey Association national championship on Friday during a banner-raising ceremony at Griff's IceHouse West in Holland Township.
Head coach Chris Van Timmeren and the Flying Dutchmen captured the first ACHA national title in school history last March with a 7-5 victory against Oakland University in Columbus, Ohio.

After Friday's festivities, Hope skated against the University of Michigan's ACHA Division 3 team and dropped the 2018-19 home opener by an 8-2 score.
Michigan swept the two-game series by winning Saturday's game 6-3 in Canton.
The Flying Dutchmen are now 2-2 on the season.
Hope returns to the ice this weekend with home games against Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Friday's and Saturday's games will start at 7:30 p.m.
