A three-goal flurry late in the third period powered the Hope College ice hockey team to a 5-3 victory against the University of Notre Dame on Friday at Griff's IceHouse West.
Noah Weigle assisted on the tying goal and scored the go-ahead goal for the Flying Dutchmen (14-2-1 overall).
After Notre Dame took a 3-2 lead 8 minutes, 49 seconds into the third period, Mason Weiss answered 25 seconds later with the equalizer. Weigle and Coleman Stenstrom recorded the assists.
Three minutes and 14 seconds later, Weiss returned the favor and set up Weigle to give the Flying Dutchmen a 4-3 lead.
Ethan Pinto finished the flurry with 2:20 remaining.
Goalie Austin Kane made 26 saves for the Flying Dutchmen.
Hope's next game is Friday, January 10 against Davenport University at Patterson Ice Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
