ACHA Hockey Sweeps Grand Valley State, Inches Closer to West Division Title

The Hope College ice hockey team skated to 5-2 and 7-2 victories against Grand Valley State University over the weekend and moved closer to secure a Michigan Collegiate Hockey Conference title.

The Flying Dutchmen upped their record to 19-2-2 overall and 11-0-1 in MCHC West Division play. 

With 23 points, Hope leads second-place Ferris State University by five points with two division games remaining. The Flying Dutchmen have a home-and-home series with Ferris State on Friday-Saturday, January 31-February 1.

During Friday's 7-2 home victory at Griff's Ice House West, Gabe Gunneson scored twice and assisted on two goals for the Flying Dutchmen.

Brad Baysore chipped in two goals.

On Saturday, three Flying Dutchmen registered one goal and one assist during a 5-2 victory: Kevin Healy, Ethan Pinto and Noah Weigle.

Goalie Austin Kane made 45 saves.
