Third baseman Danny Carrasco doubled twice for the Hope College baseball team, but the Flying Dutchmen lost 9-2 and 6-5 at Alma on Monday in a makeup doubleheader.
The Scots were led by first baseman Max Trucks, who delivered nine RBIs over the two games.
In Game 1, Alma scored seven unanswered runs after the Flying Dutchmen tied at 2-2 in the fourth when Carrasco scored after the Scots misplayed a grounder by leftfielder Nick Lepore of Clinton Township, Michigan (Warren DeLaSalle HS).
Trucks finished with three hits and six RBIs.
In Game 2, a Trucks RBI single in the bottom of the ninth handed the Flying Dutchmen their third walkoff loss in five games.
Hope evened the score at 5-5 with a two-run eighth. First baseman Landon Brower of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian) followed up an RBI double with a bases-loaded walk.
The Flying Dutchmen rallied to even the score at 3-3 with a two-run fourth. Carrasco, a senior from Grandville, Michigan (Calvin Christian), scored on a Lepore single. Lepore then came home on a run-scoring hit by designated hitter Trace Slancik of Scotts, Michigan (Vicksburg).
Rightfielder Mason Opple of Hudsonville, Michigan (Hudsonville) opened the scoring for Hope with an RBI single in the first.
The Flying Dutchmen are now 10-20 overall and in sixth place in the MIAA standings with an 8-12 league record.
