Baseball's Mason Opple Sets Career RBI Record During Victory Against Franklin

With a third-inning, run-scoring single on Friday, Hope College right fielder Mason Opple became the Flying Dutchmen's all-time baseball leader in career runs batted in.

The senior from Hudsonville, Michigan (Hudsonville HS) now has 120 runs batted in over 127 games after Friday's 15-7, season-opening victory at Franklin College (Indiana).

Opple capped a six-run, third-inning rally by knocking in catcher Trace Slancik from third with a single to center.

Opple broke the tie he shared with Mike VanBeek, who collected 119 runs batted in between 2000-03.

Opple went 1-for-3 against Franklin with one RBI and two walks 

As a junior, Opple totaled a career-high 48 runs batted in over 42 games.

As a sophomore, Opple recorded 35 runs batted in over 24 games. As a freshman, Opple finished with 36 runs batted in over 42 games.
