The senior from Hudsonville, Michigan (Hudsonville HS) is receiving the honor for the second time in his career and the second time in two seasons.
Opple directed the Flying Dutchmen to a 51-0 victory at two-time MIAA champion Trine. In three quarters on the field, he accounted for 315 yards and four touchdowns while not committing one turnover.
On the ground, Opple rushed for a game-high 102 yards and one touchdown on 13 carries. He averaged 7.8 yards per rushing attempt.
Opple scored Hope's first touchdown on a 3-yard run to cap an 80-yard, 12-play drive that followed a Trine three-and-out on the first possession.
Through the air, Opple completed 18-of-29 passes for 213 yards and three touchdowns. He connected with seven different receivers during the game.
Two of his passes went to senior receiver Cooper Cecchini of Hudsonville, Michigan (Hudsonville) for touchdowns that covered 8 and 20 yards.
Opple also found freshman receiver TJ McKenzie of North Muskegon, Michigan (North Muskegon) in the corner of the end zone for a 7-yard score.
Opple is ranked third in NCAA Division III in passing efficiency at 201.9 after four games. He also is tied for 11th in the nation with 102 points responsible for.
