Hope College center Zach Smith has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Offensive Football Player of the Week.

The senior from Suttons Bay, Michigan (Suttons Bay HS) played a significant role in the Flying Dutchmen's 49-21 victory at Kalamazoo College on Saturday that clinched a share of Hope's first MIAA title in 12 years and its first NCAA playoff berth in 13 years.

Smith anchored an offensive line effort that paved the way for a season-high 416 yards rushing and six rushing touchdowns.

The Flying Dutchmen finished with 499 yards of total offense.

Hope can clinch an outright MIAA title and its second nine-win season on Saturday, November 16 with a victory against Adrian College in the regular-season finale at Ray and Sue Smith Stadium.

A three-year starter, Smith was chosen a NCAA Division III Preseason All-American by D3football.com as a senior.
