Two Hope College football players have added All-America honors to the resumes with the Flying Dutchmen.

Center Zach Smith has received D3football.com All-America First Team honors, while linebacker Mason Dekker made The Associated Press NCAA Division III All-America Second Team.

Earlier this month, Smith was named to the American Football Coaches Association All-America First Team and the 2019 Division III recipient of the Rimington Trophy given to the top centers in the country.

Smith and Dekker played integral roles in the Flying Dutchmen's record-tying 9-2 season this fall.

Hope tied the school records for wins in a season, earned the fifth NCAA Division III playoff appearance in school history and captured the 21st Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association championship in school history with a 7-0 league record.

The 5-10, 264-pound Smith anchored the blocking for the MIAA's top scoring offense at 46.0 points per game and second-ranked total offense at 439.7 yards per game.

Smith also concluded his playing career as a two-time, All-MIAA First Team offensive lineman.

Dekker was chosen as MIAA Defensive MVP in November. The senior from Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa) finished third for Hope with 39 tackles, including 28 against MIAA opponents. He recorded two sacks and one interception.

The Flying Dutchmen led the MIAA in scoring defense at 16.9 points per game and total defense at 294.1 yards per game.

Dekker was a D3football.com All-North Region Second Team linebacker.
