Dave Gkekas rejoined the Hope College football program for his second coaching stint in the 2016 season. He coaches cornerbacks.

Previously, Gkekas spent four seasons coaching at Hope College and 18 years coaching in the high school ranks.

Gkekas spent two years as the head coach at Wayland Union High School. While at Wayland, he mentored former Hope football standout Santino DiCesare.

Prior to being named the head coach at Wayland, Gkekas coached at Grandville High School from 1998-2008. He spent the last four seasons as defensive coordinator. While he was defensive coordinator, his defense helped lead the Bulldogs to the 2005 and 2006 OK Red Championships and the MHSAA Division 1 Playoffs seven years in a row, from 2000-2006. During that span, the Bulldogs won eight playoff games and advanced to the state semifinals in 2001 and 2003. 

For the 1996 and 1997 seasons, Gkekas coached at West Ottawa High School. Gkekas started his coaching career at Ann Arbor Pioneer under current Ferris State University coach Tony Annese. Gkekas graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 1996. 

Gkekas lives in Grandville, Michigan. He has a son, Casey.
