LAST HOPE GAME
The Flying Dutchmen qualified for the NCAA Tournament by winning the MIAA Tournament on Saturday with a 106-94 victory at top-seeded Olivet College. Hope and Olivet shared the regular-season title, but the Flying Dutchmen lost the tiebreaker for the top seed. Guard Jason Beckman topped Hope with 32 points. Guard Riley Lewis added 21 points off the bench.
The Flying Dutchmen set or tied three MIAA Tournament records last Saturday: scoring in a championship game outright with 106 points, Jason Beckman outright with 19 made free throws, and forward Teddy Ray tied with 18 rebounds in a single game.
This is the fifth time in school history Hope has had at least three postseason trips in a row. Hope joins previous postseason appearance runs from 2006-12, 1995-98, 1987-92, and 1982-85. Hope made it to sectional semifinals last season before losing to Hanover, Indiana at DeVos Fieldhouse.
