Men's Golf Tied for Fourth at Carthage Fall Classic

The 18th-ranked Hope College men's golf team finished its first round of play in the two-day Carthage Fall Classic tied for fourth place with a round of 300 on Friday. The event, hosted by Carthage College at the Randall Oaks, Country Club in West Dundee, Illinois, is currently led by defending national champion Illinois Wesleyan University which shot a three-under 281.

Also in fourth place with the Flying Dutchmen are Denison University and Carthage. Alone in second place is Webster (Mo.) University with a 297.

Freshman Jack Crawford of Carmel, Ind. (Carmel HS) fired a one-over 72 to lead Hope. Crawford is tied for 10th place. 

Adding rounds of 76 each were senior Daniel Settecerri of Bloomfield Hills (Bloomfield Hills HS), junior Luke Tapani of Wayzata, Minn. (Providence Academy) and senior Noah Weigle of Grandville (Grandville HS), tying them for 32nd place.

Lastly, freshman Seth Almquist of Minneapolis, Minnesota (Wayzata HS) shot a 79, putting him in a tie for 70th place.

A total of 21 teams and 105 players are participating in the event.

The Carthage Fall Classic continues tomorrow with tee time at 1 p.m. Central Time.
