Men's Lacrosse Rides Second-Half Shutout To 12-3 Win At Monmouth

A second-half shutout secured a 12-3 victory for the Hope College men's lacrosse team at Monmouth, Illinois on Saturday.

The Flying Dutchmen broke open the nonleague match and improved to 2-1 overall by outscoring their hosts 7-0 after halftime.

Sophomore goalie Nick Schanhals of North Muskegon, Michigan (North Muskegon) made three saves for Hope.

The Flying Dutchmen allowed only three second-half shots to Monmouth (1-1) and six total.

Sophomores Max Kuiper of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Forest Hills Central HS) and Rocco Mularoni of Hartland, Michigan (Detroit Catholic Central), pictured, each scored three times to lead Hope.

Kuiper struck twice during a four-goal third quarter that extended the Flying Dutchmen's lead to 9-3.

Kuiper also topped Hope with two assists.

The Flying Dutchmen also received two goals from sophomore Andrew Pavey of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Forest Hills Eastern).
