Men's Lacrosse Falls At Elmhurst, Max Kuiper Scores Three Goals

Attacker Max Kuiper recorded three goals and one assists to lead the Hope College men's lacrosse team in a 14-9 loss at Elmhurst College (Illinois) on Saturday.

The Flying Dutchmen fell to 1-1 on the season after the non-league match.

Kuiper, the junior from Grand Rapids, Michigan (Forest Hills Central HS), pictured, scored all three of his goals during the third quarter when Hope outscored the Blue Jays by a 4-1 margin.

Elmhurst (2-0) charged to a 12-5 halftime lead with an eight-goal second quarter that included the final five goals of the first half.

Mac Harden's four goals and six assists propelled the Blue Jays.

Senior Gino Battaglia of Dayton, Ohio (Lebanon) added two goals for Hope.

The Flying Dutchmen's next match is Tuesday, March 5 - the 5 p.m. home opener against Augustana College (Illinois) at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.
