Marshall VanBelkum Chosen As MIAA Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player Of The Week

Hope College's Marshall VanBelkum has been selected as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week.

The junior from Rockford, Michigan (Rockford HS) won 85.7 percent of faceoffs and equaled his career-high ground balls last week during a 25-8 victory at Adrian College.

VanBelkum won 12 of 14 faceoffs for the Flying Dutchmen. The 12 faceoff wins were a season-high.

VanBelkum's 12 ground balls marked the 13th time a Hope player has reached the 12 ground ball mark in a team during team history. He has accomplished the feat twice.

This is the second time in VanBelkum's career has been named Player of the Week and the first time this season.
