Men's Lacrosse Sweeps MIAA Player Of The Week Awards

Hope College's Brayden Blackburn and Ethan Pinto have been chosen as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week.

The two helped the Flying Dutchmen win two MIAA Tournament matches last week and capture their first league tournament championship. Blackburn is the Defensive Player of the Week, while Pinto is the Offensive Player of the Week.

Blackburn, pictured at left, scored the game-winning goal during a 6-5, championship game victory against Albion College on Saturday.

The freshman from Muskegon, Michigan (Reeths-Puffer HS) finished with four ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Against Calvin in the semifinals May 1, Blackburn gathered five ground balls to go with one caused turnover during Hope's 15-3 win.

Pinto, pictured at right, assisted on Hope's second fourth-quarter goal vs. Albion, giving the Flying Dutchmen their first lead of the fourth quarter with 10:03 to play.

The freshman midfielder from Grand Rapids, Michigan (Forest Hills Eastern) had one goal, three ground balls, and one caused turnover against Calvin.
