Hail to the victors from Hope College. The Flying Dutchmen lacrosse team went to the University of MIchigan lacrosse field on Saturday and claimed a 17-12 victory against Oberlin College (Ohio).
Hope improved to 3-0 overall while handing Oberlin its first loss of the season.
After a slow start, the Flying Dutchmen erupted for seven second-quarter goals for an 8-4 halftime lead they would never relinquish.
After Oberlin (2-1) cut Hope's lead two goals late in the third quarter, junior Luke Elder of Grand Rapids, Michigan (East Grand Rapids) scored with four seconds remaining in the quarter to push the Flying Dutchmen ahead 11-8.
Senior midfielder Nathaniel Hentschel of Spring Lake, Michigan (Spring Lake), pictured, recorded a team-high four goals for Hope.
Mularoni, Pavey and sophomore attacker Jack Radzville of Howell, Michigan (Howell) finished with three goals apiece.
Goalie Ian Bosman of Centennial, Colorado (Cherry Creek), pictured, made six saves in the first half to earn the victory.
Hope's next match is Tuesday, March 10 at 6 p.m. at home against Siena Heights University.
