Ryan Flynn and Ty Dalton recorded their first multi-goal games of their young Hope College soccer careers in a 6-0 Purple Community victory against Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (Indiana) on Saturday.
The Flying Dutchmen raised their record to 6-0 overall with the non-league victory at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.
Hope wore purple jerseys in honor of loved ones impacted by cancer and neurodegenerative diseases. All proceeds will benefit Van Andel Institute and help fund a summer internship for a Hope College student to perform research in a Van Andel Institute laboratory.

Flynn led the Flying Dutchmen with three goals. The freshman from Bloomington, Illinois (Bloomington HS) scored in the 36th minute to give Hope a 3-0 halftime lead. Freshman Dominick Byrne had the assist.
Dalton netted his first two goals of the season in the 13th and 60th minutes, respectively. The sophomore from Rockford (Rockford HS) was set up by senior Christian Dault of Grand Haven, Michigan (Grand Haven) for the game's first scoring strike. His second goal was unassisted.
Freshman Brett Dyer of Northport, Michigan (Northport) also scored for Hope.
The Flying Dutchmen outshot Saint Mary-of-the-Woods (0-6 overall) by a 49-5 margin.
Hope returns to action on Wednesday with a 5 p.m. non-league match against Carthage College (Wisconsin) at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.
