Men's Soccer Shut Out By North Park

by Alan Babbitt

An aggressive, organized opponent overwhelmed the Hope College men's soccer team on Wednesday at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.

North Park University (Illinois) scored twice in each half to roll to a 4-0 non-league victory.

The Flying Dutchmen dropped to 5-4 overall.

North Park improved to 5-3 overall.

Despite attempting the same number of shots (11), North Park produced the higher-quality scoring chances and converted them.

The Vikings scored in the 19th, 36th, 48th and 62nd minutes. Peder Olsen's two goals led North Park.

Goalie Mathias Stulen played all but the final 4 minutes, 48 seconds for the Vikings and earned the win with five saves.

Hope's next match is Saturday, September 28 against Illinois Wesleyan. Kickoff is 6 p.m. at Van Andel Soccer Stadium. There will be a free team poster giveaway after the match.
