Men's Swimmers Finish Runner-Up in Three Events at MIAA Relays

The Hope College men's swimming and diving team took second in three events and finished third in two events at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Relays on Friday at Calvin University.

In the 1,500-yard freestyle relay, freshman Brant Assink of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian), freshman Theo Duong of Kentwood, Michigan (East Kentwood) and freshman Bailey Smith of Battle Creek, Michigan (Lakeview), pictured from left to right, went 14:57.11 for second place.

In the 200 butterfly relay, senior Daniel Clyde of Ann Arbor, Michigan (Huron), freshman Andre Aro of Kalamazoo, Michigan (Kalamazoo Central),  freshman JT Nissen of Spring, Texas (Klein Collins),  junior Daniel Keith of Saline, Michigan (Saline) clocked a second-place swim of 1:36.89.

In the 500 progressive relay, Nissen, freshman Gabe Boonstra of Hudsonville, Michigan (Hudsonville), Smith and Keith recorded a runner-up effort of 4 minutes, 8.6 seconds.

The 200 medley relay of Keith, freshman Jack Muller of Queensland, Australia (Meridan State), Nissen and Boonstra placed third with a time of 1:37.02.

The 200 freestyle relay of Keith, Boonstra, Clyde and Nissen had a third-place swim of 1:27.58.

The MIAA Relays were a non-scoring meet.
