Men's Tennis Downs Alma, Clinches No. 2 Seed In MIAA Tournament

The Hope College men's tennis team claimed a home match to start next week's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament with a 9-0 victory at Alma on Monday in the regular-season finale.

The Flying Dutchmen clinched the No. 2 seed with their fifth league win of the season. They will host third-seeded Adrian on Thursday, May 3 at a time to be announced.

Junior Timothy Roe of Bakersfield, California (Frontier HS) earned his sixth MIAA victory of the season with a 6-1, 6-1 victory against Tristen Fox at No. 4 singles.

Sophomore Danny Kroeze of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian) defeated his fifth MIAA foe this season with a 6-1, 6-2 decision against BJ Schuette.

Kroeze and junior Mark VanderStoep of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa) topped Alma's No. 1 pair of Schuette and Luke Van Fleet 8-4 for their fourth MIAA win together.

Hope is now 8-10 overall.
