Men's Indoor Track & Field Wins Two Events At Aquinas

Nathan Schloff and Owen Ljung ran away with first-place performances for the Hope College men's indoor track & field team at Aquinas College on Friday.

Schloff, pictured, won the 3,000 meters. The senior from Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian HS) clocked a time of 9 minutes, 8.48 seconds.

Ljung led a 1-2-3 Hope finish in the 800 meters. The junior from Sonoma, California (Santa Monica) recorded an effort of 1:58.73.

Senior Collin Thomas of Novi, Michigan (Novi) finished second in 2:01.03. Junior Ty Hergenreder had the third-fastest run at 2:01.56.

Hope placed third as a team.

The Flying Dutchmen were runner-up in two more events.

Senior Andrew VandeBunte of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Byron Center) placed second in the 1 mile run with a time of 4:36.67. He was followed by teammate Brenden Jones of Holland, Michigan (Black River) in third at 4:39.75, junior Jacob Kelley of Rockford, Michigan (Rockford) in fourth at 4:45.36, and senior Ryan Holman of Holmen, Wisconsin (Holmen) in fifth at 4:50.53.

Hope came in second in the 4x400 relay. Sophomore Terrell Solberg of Traverse City, Michigan (Central), Ljung, Jones, and Thomas posted a run of 3:31.24.

Junior Joshua Izenbart of Glenwood, Illinois (Homewood Flossmoor) was third in the high jump after clearing 1.94 meters (6 feet, 4 ¼ inches).

The Flying Dutchmen's next meet is Saturday, February 2 at the University of Chicago.
