Discus thrower Chase Gaca led a group of six scoring performances for the Hope College outdoor men's track & field team at the Emory Invitational on Saturday in Atlanta, Georgia.
The senior from Kingsley, Michigan (Kingsley Area HS) finished second in the discus throw with a toss of 39.83 meters (130 feet, 8 inches).
Hope placed fifth out of 31 scoring teams with 54.5 points.
Junior Owen Lung of Sonoma, California took third in the 800 meters by clocking a time of 1 minute, 53.81 seconds.
Sophomore Noah Russo of Grand Rapids, Michigan (East Grand Rapids) came in third in the shot put with a heave of 13.71 meters (44-11 ¾).
Senior pole vaulter Ben Turner of Albion, Michigan (Olivet) cleared 4.45 meters (14-7 1/4) for fourth place.
Hope's 4x400 relay of sophomore Terrell Solberg of Traverse City, Michigan (T.C. Central), Ljung, senior Matt Ruff of Wheaton, Illinois (Wayne Academy) and senior Collin Thomas of Novi, Michigan (Novi) clocked a fourth-place time of 3:24.33
Senior Justin Freeman of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa) posted a seventh-place effort of 11.05.
Hope's next neet is Friday, March 29 at home against Calvin College.
