Men's Track & Field Tops Calvin In Dual Meet

Josh Izenbart hustled from event to event for the Hope College men's track & field team on Friday.

He kept winning wherever he competed.

The junior from Glenwood, Illinois (Homewood-Flossmoor HS) posted first-place performances in three individual events and one relay to help the Flying Dutchmen beat visiting Calvin College, 102-91, during non-league competition.

"He had a good day," head coach Kevin Cole said.

Izenbart, pictured at left, sprinted to a winning 110-meter hurdle run of 16.22 seconds.

He finished first in the javelin with a toss of 49.44 meters (162 feet, 2 inches).

He won the high jump by clearing 1.98 meters (6-6).

Izenbart anchored the first-place 4x400 relay. He teamed with junior Adam Howard of Jacksonville, Illinois (Routt catholic), sophomore Terrell Solberg of Traverse City, Michigan (T.C. Central), and freshman Nathaniel Trumble of Granger, Indiana (Trinity School at Greenlawn) for a time of 43.79 seconds.

Howard swept the sprints, winning the 100 meters in 11.24 seconds and the 200 meters in 22.80.

Senior Tucker Gibbons of Fowlerville, Michigan (Fowlerville) recorded a winning 400-meter hurdle time of 58.35.

Freshman Jonathan Outen of Hackensack, N.J. (Hackensack) clocked a first-place 800-meter run of 2:00.80.

Hope's next meet is Saturday, April 6 at the Wheaton College (Invitational).
