Hope College triple jumper Brandon Maurice finished runner-up at the Davenport University Invitational on Saturday.
The junior from Howell, New Jersey (Howell HS) recorded a leap of 12.55 meters (41 feet, 2 1/4 inches).
The meet was one of two the Flying Dutchmen competed in over the weekend. On Friday, they were at the Hillsdale College Gina Relays.
Maurice, pictured, was one of three Hope triple jumpers to score at Davenport. Senior Tucker Gibbons of Fowlerville, Michigan (Fowlerville) placed third at 12.44 meter (40-9 ¾), while senior Louis Kopp of Spring, Texas (Providence Classical) was sixth at 12.02 (39-5 ¼).
Also at Davenport, pole vaulter Ben Turner of Albion, Michigan (Olivet) came in third by clearing 4.43 meters (14-6 ¼).
Gibbons finished fourth in the 400 hurdles with a time of 59.56 seconds.
Freshman Drew Dow of Bridgman, Michigan (Bridgman) took fourth in the 400 meters by clocking a run of 52.01 seconds. Jonathan Yepez was eighth at 52.84.
The Flying Dutchmen finished eighth at Davenport with 36 points.
At the non-scoring Gina Relays, senior Justin Freeman of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa) took fourth in the 200 meters by posting a time of 22.15 seconds.
Freshman Nick Hoffman of Holland, Michigan (Holland) took eighth in the 1,500 meters with a run of 4:04.50.
Junior Owen Ljung of Sonoma, California (Sonoma Valley) recorded an eighth-place, 800-meter run of 1:55.44.
High jumper Josh Izenbart of Glenwood, Illinois (Homewood-Flossmoor) was 10th at 1.94 meters (6-4 ¼).
Hope's next meet is the MIAA Field Day on Thursday-Friday, May 2-3 at Brewer Track.
