Korey Derr Races to Second Place in 60-Meter Dash at North Central Invitational

Hope College's Korey Derr sprinted to a runner-up performance in the 60-meter dash at the North Central College Invitational on Friday in Naperville, Illinois

The senior from Grand Rapids, Michigan (Northview HS) clocked a time of 7.01 seconds during the finals. Derr, pictured, finished two one-hundredths of a second behind the University of Chicago's Nike Reid.

Two high jumpers scored for the Flying Dutchmen: senior Josh Izenbart of Glenwood, Illinois (Homewood-Flossmoor) at 1.93 meters (6 feet, 4 inches) and Jared Lowe in seventh at 1.88 meters (6-2).

Long jumper Lukas Bruxvoort of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian) placed sixth with a leap of 6.18 meters (20-3 ½).

Triple jumper David McHugh of Whitehall, Michigan (Muskegon Reeths-Puffer) took seventh after traveling 12.52 meters (41-1).

Senior Ty Hergenreder of Davison, Michigan (Goodrich) finished seventh in the 800 meters by posting a time of 2:00.31.

Izenbart was seventh in the 60-meter hurdles with a run of 8.64 seconds.

Hope's 4x400 relay of Nathaniel Trumble of Granger, Indiana (Trinity School), Aidan Jones of Holland, Michigan (Black River), Chris Stamatopolous of Wheaton, Illinois (Wheaton Warrenville South) and Maxwell Gutwein of Westfield, Indiana (Westfield) recorded an eighth-place time of 3:34.43.

Derr took ninth in the 200 meters with a run of 23.52.

The Flying Dutchmen were eighth with 25.5 points.
