Kara (Vande Guchte) Winton has been an assistant track & field coach at her alma mater since the 2016 season.
Winton had a decorated academic and athletic career at Hope before graduating in 2011. She earned a degree in accounting.
Winton was a four-time member of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Honor roll (2008-11).
In 2011, Winton was given the John Schouten Award that is presented annually at Hope College to the outstanding female athlete in the senior class. She named the MIAA’s Most Outstanding Runner that season and claimed All-MIAA honors for the fourth time.
Winton earned All-America honors in the heptathlon as a junior with a third-place finish at outdoor nationals.
Winton also played volleyball at Hope and earned all-region honors as a sophomore (2009) and freshman (2008). She still holds the team record for 1.01 blocks per set during the 2009 season.
